Ash Basketry and Birchbark Canoe Demonstration with George Neptune, Passamaquoddy, Abbe Museum Educator

9/10/2014, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

George Neptune, Passamaquoddy from Indian Township, has been making baskets for 20 years.  Having learned this craft from his grandmother, Molly Neptune Parker, George takes traditional techniques and designs and incorporates them into his own contemporary, sculpture-like style. As the Museum Educator at the Abbe Museum, George will be accompanied by the Abbe’s own Reis Education Canoe to discuss the traditional methods used to construct birchbark canoes.
