In collaboration with Bar Harbor’s Jesup Memorial Library, independent letterpress and publisher Bateau Press is pleased to announce the first installment in their 2018 reading series: a poetry reading by NYC Youth Poet Laureate 2016, Nkosi Nkululeko.
Nkosi is a Callaloo Fellow and The Watering Hole Fellow. He has been nominated for the American Voices Award, Independent Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize. Knosi was part of the 2014 Urban Word Slam Team and the 2015 Urbana-NYC Slam Team. His work is currently published in No Token, Vinyl, Rose Red Review, Hobart, decomP, and elsewhere. He has performed in the Apollo Theater and the Lincoln Center, and was a featured speaker on TEDxNewYork. He lives in Harlem, New York.
Nkosi’s reading at the Jesup will kick off the second year of Bateau’s annual reading series. His work is joyful, urgent, and vibrantly alive, and he is as skilled a performer as he is a poet.
There will be a Q&A with Nkosi following the reading. Light refreshments will be served.
