Heart of a Dog

1/31/2018, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The Southwest Harbor Public Library will screen Laurie Anderson’s 2015 film, Heart of a Dog, on Wednesday evening, January 31, 6:00. The event is free and open to the public. By turns funny, sad, wise and altogether beguiling, this is Laurie Anderson’s lovely meditation on life, love, loss, dogs and much more.

Laurie Anderson is a songwriter, visual and performance artist, musician and NASA’s first (2003) artist-in-residence. Heart of a Dog is not a dramatic film or a documentary but it is a story, a memoir, told by the filmmaker in her famously mesmerizing voice about her dog, Lolabelle, her mother, and her husband, Lou Reed. It’s also about how memory sustains us.

Heart of a Dog was nominated for an Academy Award. Come join us for a film that’s a little bit different and thoroughly entertaining. For more information, call the Library at 244-7065.
