Environmental Leader Membership

The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce introduces the new Environmental Leader Membership to recognize businesses that are actively involved in sustainable practices.

The Bar Harbor of Chamber of Commerce wants to recognize these businesses and highlight their sustainable practices. The Chamber hopes showcasing these businesses will encourage others to achieve this status, making Bar Harbor a truly sustainable tourism destination.

To be eligible, a business must be a member in good standing with the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce and have proof the business is certified in environmental sustainable practices by one of the approved organizations (see list below). If a business holds a certification from an organization not currently approved, the business can ask for approval from the Sustainable Tourism Committee.

Environmental Leader Member Benefits:
  • Special markers denoting Environmental Leader in printed membership directory listings: Visitors Guide and Relocation & Business Guide
  • Members will receive a special "Environmental Leader" membership decal to display at their business as well as an electronic version for members to post on their website.
  • Members at this level will be eligible to win the annual Environmental Leader Award presented at the Chamber's Annual Dinner in October.
