Bar Harbor Historical Society
Founded in 1946, the society oversees collections and exhibits that include photographs, paintings, and clothing from the Gilded Age. Open June to October, 1-4 pm, closed Sundays and holidays. George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History
The Museum of Natural History investigates, interprets, and displays the natural world of Maine. All exhibits are designed and produced by students at the College of the Atlantic. The Museum is housed in the original headquarters of Acadia National Park, renovated and expanded to provide a unique site for exhibits, programs, and activities. Mount Desert Oceanarium & Lobster Hatchery
Enjoy an up-close experience with marine life. Take a guided tour of a salt marsh and the Maine Lobster Museum. At the working lobster hatchery, see mother lobsters, baby lobsters, and the hatchery process. Group discounts and tours available. Sieur de Monts Spring & Nature Center

At ArtWaves, we connect the community with art. A simple concept with boundless opportunity.  Art for everyone and in multiple forms.  Children, high schoolers, summer visitors, seasonal workers, year-round professionals. Working and emerging artists.  Drawing, painting, sculpting, printing, dancing.

We offer a wide array of classes and workshops for the beginner, intermediate, advanced and curious artists in our community.

The mission of the Abbe Museum, Maine’s first and only Smithsonian Affiliate, is to inspire new learning about the Wabanaki Nations with every visit. The Abbe works closely with the Wabanaki people to share their stories, history, and culture with a broader audience. With a collection of over 50,000 archaeological, historic and contemporary objects, the Museum's collections conservation program is recognized nationally as a model for museums. The Abbe holds the largest and best-documented collection of Maine Native American basketry in any museum. 

Historic Abbe at Sieur de Monts Spring is open May-October. Admission charged at both locations.
