Through a combination of actual news headlines and first person voice of Wabanaki leaders, the exhibit will explore eight topics frequently covered in the news. This exhibit is an annual favorite for locals and visitors alike. Over 30 students from three of the Native American communities in Maine are invited to display their works or art. Learn the art of mono-gelatin prints and make a Father's Day card to wrap up the day. Bar Harbor artist Meri Fox-Szauter majored in printmaking at Georgia Southern University. Learn a simple method of printmaking and make several prints before wrapping up the class with a card for your favorite father. Class is limited to 8 students. Call 288-4229 to register. After two years as an apprentice to a master potter in Japan, Jody Johnstone moved to Swanville, Maine, in 1997 to build her anagama wood fired kiln. Twice each year, she and a group of potters fire 800 of their own handmade pots continually over 8 days, each taking a shift. After 6 cords of wood are carefully stoked, the kiln cools for 5 days.
