Join a Committee

Joining a committee is a great way to take an active role with your membership. As a part of a committee you are a representative for the membership and help make decisions for the direction of the Chamber. To join a committee, please contact the Chamber Staff.

Marketing Committee: Purpose: To build a marketing strategy and plan for the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce that will promote a balance between business growth and quality of life; to work with the Executive Director in presenting a written marketing plan to the Board; to report to the Board the results of the Chamber's marketing efforts (conversion studies); and to report to the Board the results of market research procured by the State Office of Tourism.

Membership Committee: Purpose: to help promote membership and member benefits and act as an advocate for members.

Special Events Committee: Purpose: To provide support for staff (Events Coordinator and Executive Director) in the planning and implementation of Chamber sponsored special events; to assist in coordinating volunteers for special events; to assist staff in identifying opportunities for creating or attracting special events.

Government Affairs Committee: Purpose: To monitor developments in State and Local government that affect our members; to provide a communication channel between Chamber members and members of State and Local governments; to assist the Executive Director in crafting surveys for the membership, the results of which will provide the foundation for Chamber positions.

Sustainable Tourism Committee: Purpose: to seek opportunities to incorporate sustainable tourism concepts into Chamber activities; to coordinate with the Town, Acadia National Park, and other community groups on innovative projects; to educate members and visitors on sustainable tourism practices; to seek grant and award opportunities for sustainable tourism projects; to be the liaison between members, the Town, and the State on recycling issues

Finance Committee: Purpose: to oversee and assist the management of Chamber financial activities.

Strategic Planning Committee: Purpose: to look at Chamber goals and direction over the next 5 years. Shapes what the organization is, what it does, and why it does it with the focus on the future.
